F+L Week 2017 | Matthew Joyce | The Drive for Higher Performing, Higher Value Lubricants
Lubrizol’s presentation discusses some of the major trends that are driving change in the automotive lubricant industry and how forthcoming technology requirements will require new, highly engineered lubricants. By looking at the changes expected, the next five years to 20 years from now, the presentation outlines how performance requirements are changing and creating a new frontier for additive chemistry and challenges for the industry. As performance requirements increase, and the need to demonstrate real world performance grows, the role of the lubricant is becoming even more essential in enabling the OEM to meet stringent emissions and efficiency targets. Ensuring lubricants become highly valued components of the powertrain system will be essential to ensuring the industry can support the investment in new additive technology and innovation that will be needed.
